Grading of the severity of neonatal cerebellar hemorrhage (CBH) based on neuroimaging*[1]

Grading of the severity of neonatal cerebellar hemorrhage (CBH) based on neuroimaging*[1]
Grade Description
0 Normal echogenicity/signal intensity of the cerebellar vermis and hemispheres with normal anatomic features. No signs of destruction or atrophy.
1 Focal, punctate lesion(s) <4 mm in the cerebellar parenchyma (usually only detected by MRI).
2 Lesion(s) ≥4 mm but involving at the most one-third of a cerebellar hemisphere.
3 Extensive lesion(s) involving more than one-third of a cerebellar hemisphere.
* Neuroimaging based on cranial ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
¶ Each grade of CBH can be unilateral or bilateral and symmetric or asymmetric. Involvement of the vermis (isolated or in combination with cerebellar hemispheric lesions) is noted separately.
