Flap coverage for pressure-induced injury of the groin

This middle-aged male patient with cerebral palsy suffered from a pressure-induced injury of the medial thigh and inguinal region (A) related to a chronic hip contracture. In the first surgery, the wound was debrided and the adductor muscles were released to treat the contracture. A pedicled anterolateral thigh flap incorporating the vastus lateralis muscle was used to provide coverage (B), and the donor site was closed primarily. A closed suction drain was brought out at the supero-lateral aspect of operative site.
