Anal position index for evaluating anteriorly displaced anus

In females, the normal API is 0.4±0.1 (mean ±2 SD). Thus, the anus is in an abnormal position if the API is <0.3.
In males, the normal API is 0.53±0.12 (mean ±2 SD). Thus, the anus is in an abnormal position if the API is <0.41.
