LEGS is a list of guidelines that may help with oftentimes challenging decision-making based on available evidence and expert opinions of Orthopedic, Trauma, and Plastic Surgeons at the University of Pennsylvania. Rather than any single criterion being considered a hard indication for transfer, LEGS can serve as a guide and provide assurance to community providers when considering transfer to reach out and consult with tertiary centers. Transfer can then proceed when initial stabilization and life-threatening/emergent conditions have been adequately addressed.
