Focal varicose bronchiectasis in a child

Focal varicose bronchiectasis in a child
HRCT scan showing varicose bronchiectasis related to late diagnosis of inhaled foreign body in left lower lobe. The image also shows the presence of bronchial structures in the lung periphery (arrow), another HRCT feature of bronchiectasis. Mucus plugging and thickened bronchial walls (features that are also sometimes present in bronchiectasis) are both absent in this image because it was taken after treatment with intravenous antibiotics and airway clearance therapy.
HRCT: high-resolution computed tomography.
