Typical optic nerve lesions on MRI in patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD)

Typical optic nerve lesions on MRI in patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD)
Axial T1-weighted post-gadolinium brain MRI shows bilateral optic nerve enhancement extending >50% of the length of the nerve (A1, arrows). Coronal T1-weighted post-gadolinium brain MRI of the same patient shows enhancement of the bilateral optic nerves (A2, arrows) and their sheaths (A2, arrowheads). Axial T1-weighted post-gadolinium brain MRI shows unilateral right optic nerve enhancement and swelling extending >50% of the length of the nerve (B1, arrow). Coronal T1-weighted post-gadolinium brain MRI demonstrates enhancement of the nerve (B2, arrow) and some subtle enhancement within the surrounding orbital fatty tissues (B2, arrowhead).
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
