Thyroid ultrasound: Nodule shape

The assessment of nodule shape should be performed in the transverse view. (A) Nodule width (solid arrow) is larger than the height (dashed arrow). This nodule shape reflects the natural growth plane of a thyroid nodule. (B) Nodule height is larger than the width. This nodule shape (taller than wide) is concerning for malignancy.
