"Cingulate island" sign on FDG-PET imaging in DLB

"Cingulate island" sign on FDG-PET imaging in DLB

(A) 18F-FDG PET image shows uptake in the posterior cingulate cortex (arrow) in a patient with DLB and relatively reduced uptake in adjacent occipital lobes.

(B) In comparison, there is no disproportionate uptake in the cingulate cortex in a patient with Alzheimer disease.
DLB: dementia with Lewy bodies; FDG-PET: fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography.
