Papillary craniopharyngioma

Papillary craniopharyngioma
Sixty-two-year-old who presented with headache and bitemporal hemianopsia. Transverse axial T2-weighted (A) and FLAIR (B) MRIs show a solid midline mass (arrows) causing acute hydrocephalus and transependymal edema (arrowheads). Pre- (C) and postcontrast (D, E, F) T1-weighted MRIs demonstrate a homogeneously and intensely enhancing solid mass (dashed arrows) in the suprasellar cistern, separate from the pituitary gland (thick arrows) and infundibulum. The optic chiasm (E; short arrows) is draped over the mass. Histopathology revealed papillary craniopharyngioma, consisting of prominent papillary fronds of squamous epithelial cells.
FLAIR: fluid-attenuated inversion recovery; MRI: magnetic resonance imaging.
