Note the presence of sternal wires used to re-approximate the midline sternal incision in the posterior-anterior (panel A) and lateral (panel B) CXR. The outflow graft (labeled O) of the VAD is directed immediately beneath and behind the sternum. The inflow (labeled I) to the VAD is located at the left ventricular apex.
