Boutin needle

Thoracic ultrasound-guided pneumothorax induction for thoracoscopy:
(A) Boutin needle with sharp and blunt trocars.
(B) Pre-intervention ultrasound showing small effusion and lung adjacent to chest wall in majority of field of view.
(C) Boutin needle (arrows) breaching parietal pleura and being introduced into effusion.
(D) Induction of pneumothorax as air is entrained through open Boutin needle, causing bilateral lung points (thick arrows) around needle tip.
