FLIP positioning and display

Panel A shows the FLIP 2.0 system using the 16 cm catheter. The left side of Panel A shows a picture of FLIP placement across the EGJ. The right side of Panel A shows the monitor that displays two images. The first image shows 40 seconds of continuous panometry data that includes the esophageal diameter topography plot, intrabag pressure, and intrabag volume. The second image shows the 3-dimensional rendering of the esophageal lumen created by cross-sectional area (transformed to diameter) measurements at 1-cm intervals. The EGJ can be appreciated as the narrowed segment of the cylinder (also referred to as the waist; thick arrow).

Panel B shows the FLIP 1.0 system using the 8 cm catheter that is positioned with the mid-portion spanning the EGJ, as illustrated in the cartoon on the left side. The corresponding display (pictured on the right side) represents a 3-dimensional rendering of the esophageal lumen created by cross-sectional area measurements at 0.5 cm intervals. The EGJ can be appreciated as the narrowed segment of the cylinder or waist (thick arrow).
