* Linolenic acid is an essential omega-3 fatty acid. DHA is the biologically active end product of alpha-linolenic acid. DHA is primarily derived from fish, especially oily fish such as herring, tuna, and salmon, as well as omega-3 fatty acid-fed chickens and their eggs.

¶ Linoleic acid is an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Seed oils are important dietary sources of linoleic acid, which can be metabolized to arachidonic acid, the biologically active end product. Arachidonic acid can also be derived directly from animal foods.

Δ 1 RAE = 1 microgram retinol or 3.3 international units of vitamin A.
