Treatment of complicated groin hernia

* Complicated groin hernias are inguinal or femoral hernias that are either acutely incarcerated or strangulated as determined by physical examination or imaging.

¶ A synthetic monofilament, large-pore mesh is preferred, but biosynthetic or biologic mesh is a reasonable alternative in clean-contaminated cases (ie, bowel resection).
