Drawing up insulin from a vial

To draw up insulin from a vial, take off the cap and clean the top of the bottle. Roll the bottle between your hands. Then:

• (A) Take your syringe and pull back on the plunger.

• (B) Insert the needle of the syringe into the top of the bottle and push down.

• (C) Then, draw up the correct dose.

• (D) Check to make sure there are no air bubbles. If you see any air bubbles, push the insulin back into the vial. You can also tap on the syringe to move the air bubbles so you can push them back into the vial.

• (E) Pull the needle out of the bottle.
