This table shows the timing for pubic hair development reported in different longitudinal[1,2,5] and cross-sectional studies[2,3]. These studies represent different time periods. The Marshall and Tanner studies are longitudinal and based on data collected in the 1950s and 1960s. The Danish study[3] presents cross-sectional data from a homogeneous population. Differences in timing between populations and variance within each population studied are evident.
