Day 0 (intraoperatively)	Methylprednisolone 1000 mg IV once
Day 1	Methylprednisolone 50 mg IV twice daily
Day 2	Methylprednisolone 40 mg IV twice daily
Day 3	Methylprednisolone 30 mg IV twice daily
Day 4	Methylprednisolone 20 mg IV twice daily
Days 5 to 7	Prednisone 20 mg orally once daily
Days 8 to 30	Prednisone 15 mg orally once daily
During month 2	Prednisone 10 mg orally once daily
During month 3	Prednisone 7.5 mg orally once daily
During month 4	Prednisone 5 mg orally once daily
During month 5	Prednisone 2.5 mg orally once daily
During month 6	Prednisone 2.5 mg orally once every other day
At 6 months	Discontinue prednisone
