Acute pontine infarctions involving abducens nucleus on diffusion-weighted axial MRIs

Acute pontine infarctions involving abducens nucleus on diffusion-weighted axial MRIs

(A) A 65-year-old presented with sudden onset of diplopia and numbness of the left arm and leg. Trace DWI shows hyperintensity involving the right facial colliculus and medial lemniscus.

(B) A 74-year-old presented with one-and-a-half syndrome: right conjugate horizontal gaze palsy and right internuclear ophthalmoplegia. Trace DWI shows hyperintensity involving both the right abducens nucleus and the medial longitudinal fasciculus.
MRI: magnetic resonance imaging; DWI: diffusion-weighted imaging.
