Acardius acephalus	Most common type	Absent head and thoracic organs Poorly developed or absent upper limbs Well developed lower limbs, genitalia and abdominal viscera
Acardius anceps	Most developed	Poorly developed head Well developed trunk, upper and lower limbs and organs
Acardius amorphus	Least developed	Amorphous mass of bone, muscle, fat, and connective tissue
Acardius acormus	Rare	Head is the only developed structure All other structures are mostly absent but rudimentary thoracic structures may be present Umbilical cord inserts directly into the fetal head
