Abdominal wall defects (ie, omphalocele, gastroschisis)
Bladder exstrophy
Diaphragmatic hernia
Obliterated peritoneal cavity
Peritoneal membrane failure
Relative contraindications
Scheduled/recent major abdominal surgery (within 3 months)
Infants with significant organomegaly
Lack of appropriate caregiver support
Inadequate living situation for home dialysis
Presence of ileostomy and/or colostomy*
