Priming an insulin pen

To get the air out of the needle (or "prime" the pen):

Point the pen with the needle straight up in the air.
Turn the dial or knob, and set the dose to 2 units of insulin. Press the injection button with your thumb.
You should see a drop of insulin at the tip of the needle. Repeat the above step if you don't see the drop of insulin.
