Oral antifungal regimens for tinea corporis and tinea cruris

Griseofulvin^¶	Microsize formulations: 10 to 20 mg/kg once daily (maximum: 1000 mg per day) Ultramicrosize formulation: 5 to 15 mg/kg once daily (maximum: 500 mg per day)	2 to 4 weeks

Oral therapy is reserved for extensive infections and infections refractory to topical therapy.

* Longer treatment courses may be necessary in some cases.

¶ Griseofulvin is available as microsize (ie, oral suspension and 500 mg tablet) and ultramicrosize (ie, 125 and 250 mg tablets) formulations; ultramicrosize griseofulvin has greater bioavailability and requires lower total daily doses. Administration with a high-fat meal increases absorption of both formulations and is required for microsize griseofulvin.
