Ureteropelvic junction with intrinsic narrowing in a horseshoe kidney
Video showing robotic-assisted pyeloplasty of a left UPJ with intrinsic narrowing in a horseshoe kidney. A small number of individuals with horseshoe kidneys have an associated intrinsic narrowing of the UPJ (in most cases, on the left side). The reconstruction is similar to a kidney in a normal retroperitoneal position, with resection of the intrinsic narrowing and reanastomosis of normal ureter to the renal pelvis. Horseshoe kidneys are located in the pelvis, so port placement is unique compared with a kidney in the flank.
