Prevalence of chronic kidney disease in adolescents in the United States
The prevalence of chronic kidney disease stages 3 through 5 is low among adolescents aged 12 to 17 years compared with adults, remaining below 1% across all NHANES cycles. These estimates are derived from NHANES data from 2001 to 2020, using the CKiD U25 equation to estimate glomerular filtration rate.
CKiD U25: chronic kidney disease in children study, for under age 25; NHANES: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
