Remove the condom from its packaging. Be careful not to damage the condom with your fingernails, teeth, or other sharp objects.
Find the inner ring of the condom. This is the ring on the closed end. Squeeze the inner ring with your thumb and index finger.
Insert the inner ring into your vagina. Put your index finger into the condom to push it as far in as it will go. Do not let the condom twist as you do this. If it does not easily go into your vagina, you can use condom-compatible lubricants to help.
The outer ring should sit outside your vagina and cover most of your vulva. If your partner's penis slips between your vagina and the condom, put on a new one. Keep the condom on until you are finished having sex.
To remove the condom, while lying down, twist the outer ring to seal the condom. This prevents it from leaking. Then, pull the condom out of your vagina. If the condom slipped, broke, or leaked:
Use emergency contraception.
Tell your doctor or nurse you might have been exposed to sexually transmitted infections ("STIs").
