Supraglottoplasty is the procedure of choice for treatment of severe or persistent congenital laryngomalacia. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia by operating through an endoscope in the oral cavity. The aryepiglottic folds are divided, and the redundant supra-arytenoid tissue that collapses into the airway is removed. The result is a wider opening in the supraglottic airway.
