ECG: electrocardiogram; LV: left ventricle; NSVT: nonsustained ventricular tachycardia; RFA: radiofrequency ablation.
* We start with a beta blocker and then introduce a calcium channel blocker if needed.
¶ Frequent ventricular ectopy may cause a cardiomyopathy. The only way to be certain that LV dysfunction is due to the ventricular arrhythmia is to treat the arrhythmia and determine whether the cardiomyopathy improves.
Δ NSVT suspected to originate in the outflow tracts, septum, or papillary muscles is often successfully treated with RFA. Antiarrhythmics are usually preferred over RFA for other types of NSVT.
