This image shows the ultrasound image obtained before rectus sheath block, with the transducer in a transverse orientation in the midline midway between the xiphoid and the umbilicus. In this view the transversalis fascia lies over the preperitoneal fat but cannot be identified separately from the posterior rectus sheath.
