ANSWER —

There is no indication for endoscopic gastroscopy at this time. This procedure lacks sensitivity for diabetic gastroparesis. Occasionally, it will reveal retained food in the stomach, supporting this diagnosis.

The injection of botulinum toxin into the pylorus does not relieve subjective symptoms or improve objective measurements of function in patients with gastroparesis [1]. It cannot be recommended.

Return to the previous choice to try again. (See "Interactive diabetes case 13: Deterioration of glycemia in a 59-year-old patient with type 2 diabetes complicated by retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy – B3".)
