Regulation of ventilation

Relationship between arterial PCO₂ (left panel) and PO₂ (right panel) and minute ventilation in normal subjects. Stimulation of ventilation occurs with a small rise in PCO₂, but requires a large fall in PO₂.

PCO₂: arterial carbon dioxide tension; PO₂: arterial oxyen tension.
