Peptide hormone synthesis

Peptide hormone synthesis begins with transcription of genomic DNA into messenger RNA (mRNA), which is then translated into protein. Preprohormone in ribosomes is modified by posttranslational processing in the Golgi apparatus into various peptide cleavage products that are eventually secreted.
