Second examination for metacarpal malrotation

Second examination for metacarpal malrotation
In this photograph, the hand is inspected for malrotation with the MCP joints flexed to 90 degrees while the PIP and DIP joints are fully extended. In the absence of malrotation, the plane of the fingernails should be aligned as it is in this normal hand. The injured and contralateral hands can be compared.
MCP: metacarpophalangeal; PIP: proximal interphalangeal; DIP: distal interphalangeal.
