Forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot

Forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot
For anatomic and clinical purposes, the foot is commonly divided into the forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot. The tarsometatarsal (Lisfranc) joint between the metatarsals and cuneiforms is the boundary between the forefoot and midfoot. The mid-tarsal (Charcot) joint between the navicular and cuboid and the talus and calcaneus is the boundary between the midfoot and hindfoot. The foot has 28 bones, including 14 phalanges, 7 tarsal bones (talus, calcaneus, cuboid, navicular, and 3 cuneiforms), 5 metatarsals, and usually 2 sesamoids.
