Construction of a loop ileostomy - Defunctionalized distal limb

This figure depicts a loop ileostomy with a defunctionalized distal limb. The ileotomy is made circumferentially and 20% of the back wall of the ileum is intact, maintaining a bridge between the functional proximal limb and the defunctionalized distal limb. Only the proximal limb is everted.
