Use of the scoliometer

The scoliometer is run along the patient's spine from caudad to cephalad while the patient is in the position assumed for the Adam's forward bend test. In the above photograph, the right thoracic prominence causes the right side of the scoliometer to deviate upward and the ball to deviate to the left. The angle of trunk rotation can also be measured with a scoliometer app on a smartphone.
