Comfortable positions for breastfeeding

Comfortable positions for breastfeeding

There are different ways you can hold your baby for breastfeeding (A, B, C).

For all these positions, it's important to have a good "latch-on" (D). The nipple should be high in the baby's mouth. You should be able to see more of the areola (the darker skin around the nipple) near the baby's nose than their lower jaw.

After each feeding, put your baby back in their crib, bassinet, or other safe place (rather than having them sleep in your bed with you). If you think you might fall asleep while breastfeeding, make sure the area is safe for your baby. This means a firm surface with no pillows or blankets that could cover their head.
