This axial image of a contrast-enhanced thoracic CT scan reveals a thickened pericardium (arrow). This young man was referred for pericardiectomy to treat what was initially diagnosed as tuberculous constrictive pericarditis. At the time of surgery, the pathologic diagnosis was mesothelioma.
