Effusion and bony erosion in septic arthritis of the knee
This lateral radiograph of the knee demonstrates an effusion in a patient with septic joint. Swelling is most apparent in the suprapatellar region (arrow). Erosion of the tibial articular surface is also apparent (arrowhead), consistent with infection.
