Pathology aortic intramural hematoma

Autopsy specimen from a patient with an intramural hematoma of the ascending aorta.

(A) Transverse section through the aorta shows the hematoma surrounding the aortic intima (*); the intima itself is intact.

(B) Longitudinal section through the aorta.
