Repair of tetralogy of Fallot

These figures depict 2 options for the surgical correction of RVOT obstruction in patients with tetralogy of Fallot. In figure A, the RVOT is enlarged by opening the RVOT and pulmonary valve, resecting the subinfundibular muscle bundles, and performing a transannular patch repair. In figure B, a conduit containing a prosthetic valve is inserted to connect the right ventricle and the main pulmonary artery, bypassing the RVOT.
