Intracoronary radiation therapy reduces restenosis

Kaplan-Meier curves show that in patients undergoing stenting, event-free survival (without myocardial infarction or repeat revascularization of the target lesion) at three years was significantly higher with intracoronary iridium-192 radiation therapy (77 versus 45 percent for placebo, p=0.01). The curves diverge at 3 months, and the difference increased over the next 7 months, after which clinical events were infrequent.
