Contractures in the metacarpophalangeal joints in diabetes mellitus: Prayer sign
Positive prayer sign (with waxy skin on the dorsal surface of the fingers) in a patient with diabetes (left panel) and a negative prayer sign in an individual without diabetes (right panel). Contractures in the metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints prevent the hands from being flattened together.
