P	Pick my idea
O	Organize my notes^¶: Who is the main character? When does the story take place? Where does the story take place? What does the main character do or want to do? What do other characters do? What happens then? What happens with other characters? How does the story end? How does the main character feel? How do other characters feel?
W	Write and say more
TREE mnemonic^Δ
T	Topic sentence: Make a statement you believe in
R	Reasons: List three or more reasons why you believe what you wrote in the topic sentence
E	Ending: Wrap it up
E	Examine: Check your work and make sure you completed all of the steps
