Midshaft clavicle fracture with shortening

This plain radiograph shows complete displacement of a middle-third fracture of the left clavicle with marked shortening (over 4 cm). Note the overlap of the proximal and distal fragments (arrow). Surgical referral is needed for patients with severe fracture displacement.
