Desquamative interstitial pneumonitis
Frontal and lateral chest radiographs in a 10-year-old child with desquamative interstitial pneumonitis show bilateral ground-glass abnormality. The child is now known to have mutations in the ABCA3 gene, consistent with a defect in surfactant function.
