| 1- to 2-liter vacuum bottles (for therapeutic paracentesis, enough bottles to remove 8 L of fluid should be available) |
| Iodine or chlorhexidine skin sterilizer |
| Alcohol wipes (3) |
| 4x4 sterile gauze sponges (3) |

| 25- to 27-gauge 1.5 inch needle, if available (if not, a tuberculin syringe can be used) (1) |
