Left ventricular wall thickness predicts sudden death in HCM

In a study of 480 patients with an HCM, the incidence of sudden death during a 6.5-year follow-up was directly related to maximal wall thickness. The incidence of sudden death almost doubled for each 5 mm increase in wall thickness.
