Depression after a myocardial infarction predicts mortality

Depression after a myocardial infarction predicts mortality
In a study of 887 patients, baseline depression was measured by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI); those with a higher level of depression (BDI ≥10) had a higher one year mortality than those with a lower level of depression. Although the relationship between mortality and depression decreased with increasing levels of perceived social support (PSS), social support was not directly related to survival.
