Ultrasound of fetus with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula

Ultrasound of fetus with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula
Esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula at 22 weeks of gestation. The diagnosis was missed prenatally.
(A) Axial ultrasound demonstrates a normal-sized stomach. Amniotic fluid was high normal.
(B) Postnatally, esophageal atresia was discovered when the nasogastric tube (arrow) could not be advanced into the stomach. Note the large amount of air in the stomach and small bowel due to the tracheoesophageal fistula.
