Example of prehospital thrombolytic therapy flow sheet
Above is a sample flow sheet. A 12-lead ECG is performed by EMS and is evaluated for ST elevation or a new left bundle branch block. A thrombolytic screen is often performed while the patient is assessed and the ECG is obtained. Using a written protocol, a paramedic determines if the patient is a candidate for fibrinolytics. The patient and their suitability for prehospital fibrinolysis are discussed with the online medical control physician. Appropriate therapy is given and the patient is transported to a PCI-capable hospital.
